Cool New Products!

In my first post, I promised to tell you why I became a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. Well, after trying all the latest and supposedly greatest skin care products, I was THAT impressed. I have tried almost everything else, and nothing quite measured up to the results I got with the new TimeWise collection of products. More about the line as time goes on. One of the latest in the TimeWise line has me really impressed, and I will review it below.

First, there's a new foundation out by Peter Thomas Roth that has me super impressed, and it is selling out all over the internet! The name is Un-Wrinkle Foundation. It's a little pricey at $45, but worth it once you read the benefits. It's long-wearing, with buildable coverage, and light diffusers. Huh? I thought, and being totally unimpressed with Mary Kay foundations, decided to give it a try. There was a free sample in my last Sephora order. Love at first application! The only minus is there are only four shades that go on really light. Sorry no photos today since I upgraded to Windows 7, and it can't see my scanner.

BBB score A+

Next cool new product is TimeWise Targeted-Action Line Reducer by Mary Kay. This one took me totally by surprise since I'm such a skeptic. It's a click pen that dispenses the proper amount of lightweight cream into your wrinkles. The first time using it was not impressive. But the second time was WOW, where did that wrinkle go! Now I am a faithful user because as time goes by, the wrinkles where it is applied appear softer, if not vanished altogether. Price: $44 for a generous amount.

Happy Tuesday before Thanksgiving!

If you are juggling a turkey, take a break.

Oops! In my first review I left out prices of the items, so here they are:

TimeWise 3-in-1 Cleanser: $18.00

TimeWise Day Solution: $30.00

TimeWise Night Solution: $30.00

The basic Miracle Set has all the products listed above plus Age Fighting Moisturizer, which alone sells for $22.00, together in a bag for $90.00

Age Fighting Moisturizer has spf 15, and Day Solution spf 25 to protect your skin from damaging sun. All together, this is a terrific value!

BBB grade: A

Official Launch!

Hello and welcome to the official launch of my new blog!! The focus will be on making women (or men) feel and look beautiful with a product guide geared toward the Baby Boomer generation.

What qualifies me to give this advice? Well, I'll start at the beginning. Right out of high school, my first job was at a Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio. That's where I fell in serious love with the whole cosmetics industry. After five years of Merle Norman, there was a real need for me to get serious about creating income, and so I decided the best career path for me would be in real estate. But all these years spent in real estate, I have also been a closet make-up junkie! It's always been a passion of mine, so my experience includes trying most brands, going to dermatologists, had the Botox, the Juvederm, etc. The books about what to use, what's best, how to wear it are probably gathering dust on my shelves.

Earlier this year, a friend of mine signed up with Mary Kay Cosmetics to be an Independent Beauty Consultant. She convinced me that, as a favor to her, I should get a facial so she could polish her new skills with the products. (Am I a sucker, or what?) My willingness to always "be there" for a friend got the best of me that day - to the tune of about $400. Of course she assured me that all these new products were 100% guaranteed. OK, great. So after a couple of weeks of using my new Mary Kay skin care regimen that I was determined NOT to like, I was amazed at the results. The new TimeWise Miracle Set is terrific in a word!! A couple of months later I signed on with Mary Kay, too! But unlike most consultants you might know, I believe there are way too many products out there to get stuck on one brand. More on that tomorrow. For now, an official Launch review:

Mary Kay Timewise 3-in-1 Cleanser - There are two formulas; for dry and combination skin types. Mine is for combination skin, and it's very good IF you don't use a long-wearing foundation like Estee Lauder Double Wear, or the new Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle (which I have just discovered, and love!). We all know by now the most aging thing you can do to your skin is wear your make-up to bed, right?

Boomer Beauty Buzz Score - B

Mary Kay Timewise Day Solution and Night Solution - Both of these products do the job! Moisturizing day and night with effective ingredients found in much pricier products, you truly get Neiman Marcus quality at a JC Penney price. Truth in advertising at last!

BBB Score - A+

Have a wondrous day filled with peace, love, and lipgloss!
